Pippi Longstocking
I mysteriously remember this character from my childhood. It was considered appropriate for children by my parents and a nice alternative to Disney. Pippi Longstocking was a strong nine-year-old girl who was fearless and had no clear guardians except for her father who never seemed to be there, being a captain who lived on the sea like a pirate.
