Tan Chánh Hiep, Quan 12, Thanh pho Ho Chi Minh

This pagoda is nearly 100 years old; up until 1975, this area was part of the Quang Trung military school. In 1968, a group of students went camping on the temple grounds, lit a fire, and danced. The Master Yet Ma of the temple tried to stop them, but they didn’t listen. So he jumped into the fire, and the students pulled him out. The next time he jumped in, he died. His body is interred inside the tower on temple grounds.

Flags flutter in the Wind
Blue, yellow, red, white, and orange colours of the flag
The biggest statue of the mall
The central Buddha to the monastery
Pedals move slowly in the Wind
The white and purple flowers seem to float
Plans to find a new home
A nursing home for other temples
The light green Pagoda
Pagoda amongst the trees
Pagoda high in the sky
Reaching for the blessed sky
Take your pick
All the blessings in a row
Can you eat these cabbages
Such a lovely dream floating in the water
Baby jack fruit
Will the fruit feed the monks, or just the dragon?
Fish fish fish sleeping to attention
One fish two fish three fish
Standing noble, guarding the entrance
Do not dare pass this lion without permission
But lovely orange flowers
These flowers adorn the temple
Standing Tall by the water
Dragon hides and underbrush
Do you think the monks put lime in their coconuts?
Are the coconuts for the dragon?
A nursing home for other temples
Plans to find a new home
