1887–1986, was an American modernist artist. Famous for paintings of enlarged flowers, skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. Often referred to as the “mother of American modernism”. Surprisingly something said about a woman not a man. Supported greatly by Alfred Stieglitz, first rock dealer and then her husband in 1924
