Cindy Sherman
Artists work primarily in photographic self-portraits, picturing in different atmospheres and characters. 1972, arts department at Buffalo State University, majored in painting. Became frustrated with the limitations of painting and took up photography. Untitled Film Stills, was a breakthrough 70 black-and-white photographs of typical female roles. 1954 New Jersey, the youngest of five children to grow up in Long Island. Father cruel and an Aircraft engineer, mother taught children raised Episcopalian.
