Water in Paintings
Painters use the inexhaustible theme of water in their paintings. Some consider it an obsession and a claim to fame. Now that I think about it, there is no consistent methodology or study of water painting. There is no conscious attempt to capture its true nature. This could have happened if it was the only subject of the work, as with Claude Monet, and you thought about it consistently rather than just as one aspect of a painting.
Looking back over my attempts to capture its nature, at some point I will make it the primary character rather than simply a supporting one. In my painting, Tried To give equal role to the subject of water in paintings is the painting called Ocean Wave. The Great Wave Off Kanagawa woodblock print by Japanese Ukiyo-e artist Hokusai served as inspiration for this work during the painting process. The wave edge’s fingerlike nature was not captured well.
