A friend of mine asked why there were so many paintings depicting armed people. Not until he mentioned it, and after reviewing my work. Realized he was correct. At the time, the idea was to be close to the United States. The gun was depicted large in films and television shows. All actions seem to require them. As a child, we used to play war, mimicking the show we watched, as a way to come to terms with them. These images are permitted; however, if a female nipple is shown, the world will end.
Armed
This idealization of guns, particularly in the United States, this fantasy false history as symbols of freedom that propagates the masculine identity, a mythology of misogyny and toxic masculinity. Embrace the sad, pathetic faction as a way of adding meaning to their vacuous lives. In fact, the right to take a shit is a far more important right than the right to carry a gun, which is why so many keep one in the bathroom. Embracing myths that are endowed with mythology and violence that all advertise a conception of their own hallucinatory cultural identity.
Whether my work allows for some leeway in this story of the armed, kicking holes that reveal my personal feelings may ooze out of it.
