Susan Denise Atkins, or Sexy Sadie (1948–2009), was a convicted murderer and member of the “Manson Family.” She committed nine murders in California over a period of 5 weeks in the summer of 1969. Sharon Tate, the most notorious of these killers, was convicted of participating in eight of them. She was sentenced to death, but her sentence was commuted to life in prison until her death in 2009. She was California’s longest-serving female inmate.
