Rough Trade (1968–1988) was a Canadian rock band singer Carole Pope and Kevan Staples instrumentalist known for provocative lyrics and antics on stage performed in Bondage costume. Their 1981 “High School Confidential” was a lesbian-themed Top 40 worldwide hit.
The head singer of her band, an incredibly outspoken. Someone you would not expect from Canada. Would imagine her from New York City. She made many a punk rocker tremble with fear. To her, many among them appeared to be simply playing soft rock with remarkably shallow lyrics of an unexamined life.
