Dolly Parton
Dolly Rebecca Parton is an American singer-songwriter, actress, and philanthropist born 1946 in a one-room cabin in the bank hills of Tennessee. To a poor sharecropper family, followed by a small tobacco farm. Her mother taught her about Smoky Mountain folklore and ancient ballads, which she credits with her musical abilities. The first performances were at six in church, and by seven, they were playing a homemade guitar; by eight, an uncle had purchased a real one. Continued to sing on local radio and television in Tennessee. At the age of ten, she appeared on a radio show, and at thirteen, she recorded the single “Puppy Love,” which appeared on the Grand Ole Opry. Dolly Parton graduated from high school in 1964; she moved to Nashville right after, starting an extremely successful career.
