Chesney Henry Baker Jr. (1929 – 1988) Oklahoma a jazz trumpeter and vocalist. For their innovations in cool jazz, was called the “Prince of Cool”. Raised in a musical household, the father a western swing guitarist, and his mother, a pianist who worked in a factory. Critical praise in 1950 for albums featuring singing. Struggled with a drug habit and was in and out of jail frequently before enjoying a stable career in late 1970s and 1980s.
