Walking the plank
It was for special occasions for pirates mutineers, and other rogue seafarers. The captives were bound, sometimes blindfolded, and forced to walk a plank.
Seems rather bizarre and cruel methodology of killing. Clearly to show everybody around them the perils of taking on the captain. The outcome clear and with a hint of you may highly unlikely survive but making one’s execution more terrifying that this will not be instant.
