There was a time when phones were not ubiquitous.  One at every finger, constantly communication with something you think is important. But when the call was planned, an expectation.  As a distance was meaningful and had a real cost.  But then communication was very infrequent, so perhaps more meaningful like a memory rather than just a typical daily event. Who do we imagine this young child is talking to, or maybe the phone rang, and they just answered and talked to a stranger?
