Marie Magdalene German 1901 –1992 American actress and singer had a long career. Born to an affluent Berlin family owned a jewellery, clock-making firm had one sibling. Father, a police lieutenant, died in 1916 during the First World War. 11 attended a girls‘ School from 1907 to 1917 Studying the violin and became interested in theatre and poetry. A wrist injury ended her dreams as a concert violinist.
Marlene Dietrich in 1922 the first job was playing violin in the orchestra pit for silent films, fired after only four weeks. First stage appearances as a chorus girl In 1922, film debut was The Little Napoleon (1923) and Tragedy of Love in 1923
