Front Porch
In the southern states, people sit outside nosily watching their neighbours come and go, usually drinking something cold and yelling at their friends as they pass by. Although being spied on is intrusive, it does create a community in which everyone is keeping an eye on what is going on down the street, so your children are safe or people know where they are.
